Hardwood is a common resource in Windrose that you need mainly for crafting weapons and facilities, ship building, base building, and such.
You need it during mid-game, and even though it is one of the essential resources, there are no details on how to obtain it.
In the wake of that, I prepared this detailed guide covering everything you need to know about Hardwood.
Windrose Hardwood uses and what does it unlocks?
When you acquire Hardwood for the first time, you unlock the Toolbox upgrade for the Workbench to level it up to craft high-tier items.
Apart from that, you also unlock the schematics for some key items like:
- Master Combat Repair Kit
- Simple Fishing Rod
- Seafood Platter
- Chowder
- Charcoal (Hardwood)
- Timber
- Seafood Skewer
In addition to the above, you also get the Regent Table upgrade for the Alchemy Station and the Cookware Shelf upgrade for the Cooking Station, as these also require Hardwood.
Other than these, you need Hardwood for crafting multiple other things, mainly gear and ship-related stuff.

How to get Hardwood
In Windrose, you can get Hardwood from the Divi-Divi trees found on Foothills Island.
To get access to Foothill Islands, you must complete the main mission, “Revenge Is Best Served Cold.”
Where to find Divi-Divi trees in Windrose
You can find the Divi-Divi trees all around the Foothills. I have marked the Island location on the map screenshot above.
However, for you, it might be at a different location due to procedural generation.
But don’t worry! Just complete the “Revenge Is Best Served Cold” mission, and the next one, “Needle in Haystack,” will lead you to your version of Foothills.

Tip: I also recommend placing a Teleport Bell there, as it makes farming resources much easier.

Back to the topic, once you arrive at the Foothills, explore the area, and you will find the Divi-Divi trees.
Don’t worry! I am not going to say, go and find it yourself. As far as I have noticed, the Divi-Divi trees grow near the giant trees found on the Foothills.

The Divi-Divi trees are easy to identify thanks to their distinctive bark.
Use a Copper or higher variant Axe to cut them and obtain Hardwood and Tree Bark.
