For players who don’t know, the Jack Frosts are one of the notable factions in the Snezhnaya region.
They have a village in the Fellfrost Peak region that is continuously attacked by the Volkodlaks. There’s a hidden side quest, Small Jack Frost, Big Problems, in the area, along with many other secrets.
Completing this quest unlocks the Jack Frost Goodies Shop while giving a ton of other lucrative rewards.
But since, just like Chulkaturin and his Wooden Cabin on Ice’s hidden questline, this quest doesn’t appear on the map.
In fact, to trigger it, you must help two Jack Frosts in the area. As a result, many players miss it.
In the wake of that, I prepared this complete walkthrough for the Small Jack Frost, Big Problems quest. So keep reading!
Small Jack Frost, Big Problems quest location and how to trigger it
In Genshin Impact, you can start the Small Jack Frost, Big Problems quest at the Jack Frost Village in the Fellfrost Peak sub-region of the Snezhnaya region.
Head to the marked location to find the Jack Frost Village entrance.
Once there, make your way inside the village.
If you notice, the Jack Frosts are worried, and many run away from you.
Well! There are two Jack Frosts in the area, whom you must help to trigger the Small Jack Frost, Big Problems quest.
First, follow the stairs to the top of the village.
Once you are there, a short cutscene will play out where Paimon will point towards the snowball going back and forth between the two jump pad constructs.
You can find it at the marked location above. Just in case you are not good with directions.
Back to the topic, as I said earlier, there are two jump pad constructs on the left and right sides.
Refund one to remove it, destroy the snowball, and free Jack Frost.
Exhaust the dialogue options with the Dizzy Jack Frost.
Now, make your way to the above-marked location in the Jack Frost Village.
You will find the other Jack Frost who needs help. He is pinned below a big ice slab.
To help him, you must construct a Cube construct on the other side as shown in the above screenshot.
Once you free him, go through the dialogue exchanges.
After that, the camera will focus towards the top part of the village with a random Jack Frost now ready to talk, triggering the Small Jack Frost, Big Problems quest.
Small Jack Frost, Big Problems quest walkthrough
In the Small Jack Frost, Big Problems quest, you must help the Jack Frost Village Head defend the village from waves of Volkodlaks.
The whole quest feels and plays like a Tower Defense experience, and it’s fun. It reminded me of one of my favorite games, Orcs Must Die.
Here’s an overview of the quest objectives in chronological order:
- Investigate the source of the massive ya-ho
- Follow the village chief to the entrance
- Help place two assault-type snowball launchers
- Prepare defensive fortification
- Reach 100% Progress in the Entrance: Part I
- Prepare defensive fortification
- Hold your ground against the Volkodlak

- Follow the village chief to the village center
- Repair the sign using the snowball launcher
Now that you know the quest objectives, here’s the walkthrough:
Investigate the source of the massive ya-ho
In Genshin Impact, after you trigger the Small Jack Frost, Big Problems quest, follow the quest marker. It will lead you to the Village Head.
Exhaust the dialogue to progress.
Follow the village chief to the entrance
Now, follow the Jack Frost Village Head to the entrance.
Just follow the quest marker, and you will be good to go.
Once you reach the entrance, the Jack Frost Village Head will tell you what has been happening recently and their issue with the Volkodlaks.
After that, you are introduced to two new temporary constructs. Skip or read the tutorial.
Help place two assault-type snowball launchers
In this part of the quest, you must take the Snowball Launcher Temporary Blueprint and place two Snowball Launchers at their silhouette on the path on the right side.
Once you place two, the quest will progress. But you can place more if you want before moving ahead.
You can also copy the Defensive Temporary Construct Blueprint found nearby and place some.
Prepare defensive fortification
Once you are ready, head toward the village entrance.
Talk to the Jack Frost Village Head and select “Yes, we’re all set!”
Doing so will start the first wave.
Reach 100% Progress in the Entrance: Part 1
The first has four rounds. Let the Snowball Launchers do their work.
To make things easy, you can also attack and defeat the Volkodlaks.
Once you are done, it’s time for the next wave.
The Jack Frost Village Head will ask you to run away or at least rest. Don’t take that advice. Just select the dialogue option, “Let’s keep at it.”
Prepare defensive fortifications
Once again, it’s time to place the Snowball Launchers and defenses.
This time around, you have to defend three paths—the left and right paths near the village entrance.
The last one is the elevated path leading to the village above the path on the left side.
Once you place your constructs, head back to the entrance, talk to the Jack Frost Village Head, and start the final wave.
Hold your ground against the Volkodlak
Make sure your defenses hold. The enemies will attack from all paths.
Just like before, you can attack and defeat them.
Once done, the Invading Volkodlak will back off.
Follow the village chief to the village center
Now, head to the Jack Frost Village top area.
As soon as you arrive, a conversation will trigger where the Jack Frost Village Head asks you to fix the door sign.
Accept the request.
Repair the sign using the snowball launcher
Interact with the construct that makes you a snowball.
Ensure the flight path goes through the snow ring, as shown in the screenshot above.
Now, fly. Another sort of cutscene will play out where the Jack Frost Village Head explains to you about the Jack Frost Goodies Shop and how you can use the Intricately Patterned Buttons to obtain items.
And that marks the end of the quest.
Collect the Precious Chest.
There are a lot more secrets and chests in the area. Make sure to collect them all before leaving.
