Don’t know how to unlock the Tanning Rack in Windrose? Tired of those YouTube videos and content creators who post how to make Tanned Leather without talking about how to get the Tanning Rack? Well! I’ve got you covered.
The Tanning Rack is a refining facility in Windrose that players need for crafting Tanned Leather and other items that are required for armor crafting and other things.
However, while most players already know about this, they don’t know how to get this Tanning Rack to start crafting items like Tanned Leather.
In fact, before preparing this guide, I found that no creator or guide writer had explained how to unlock the Tanning Rack, so I prepared this detailed guide.
How to unlock Tanning Rack?
In Windrose, you can unlock the Tanning Rack by collecting the Tree Bark item.
As soon as you collect your first Tree Bark, you unlock the following:
- Tanning Rack refining facility
- Bosun Backpack
- Tanned Leather
- Tannin
Apart from that, just like any other resource, you can use Tree Bark in crafting and other purposes.

How to get Tree Bark
You can get Tree Bark from Divi-Divi trees, along with Hardwood, in Windrose.
For players who don’t know, you can find Divi-Divi trees on the Foothills Island that you unlock after defeating Richards, the game’s first boss.

How to use Tanning Rack
To use the Tanning Rack, first press ‘B’ on your keyboard to access the Building Panel.
After that, select the ‘Crafting & Utilities’ option and navigate to the ‘Refining’ section.
There you will find the Tanning Rack. Craft it using the materials below:
- Wood x10
- Rope x5
Once placed, you can interact with it and start crafting Tanned Leather and other items.
