Moreover, it is also used to craft mutation potions like the Scaly Skin serum, Water Filters and other things.
However, most of the time, you will be searching for Coal or Coal Deposits to farm Possum challenges or the Dailies and Weeklies.
While most regular players already know where to find these, there are many new players, especially the ones who have recently started playing the game after Burning Springs update and Amazon’s Fallout Season 2 came out, they don’t know where to find Coal deposits.
In the wake of that, I prepared this detailed location guide sharing some of the best Coal deposit locations in Fallout 76.

Here are some of my favorite Coal deposit locations that you can use to farm Possum challenges and others that requires Coal:
Location 1
Head to the above player icon location South of Carleton Mine and slight northwest of the Colonel Kelley Monument.
Once you arrive there, you can spot the Coal Deposit.
Location 2
Another Coal Deposit is found south of the Palace of the Winding Path, at the above player icon location.
Head there and you will find it.
Location 3
At the above player icon location west of the Monongah Power Plant, you can find yet another Coal Deposit.
Head there and you will find it. For better reference, I have aligned the above screenshot so that the reactors are visible.
Location 4
You can find a Coal Deposit north of Autumn Acre Cabin.
Head to the above player icon location and you will find it.
Location 5
A Coal Deposit is located east of Haven Church in The Mire region.
Head there and you will find it in the jungle area.

Location 6
Another Coal Deposit is located at the above player icon location southeast of Kerwood Mine.
Head there and in the trenches, you will find it. For better reference, check the tower.
Location 7
You can find a Coal Deposit west of Investigator’s Cabin where you usually look for Wolves.
