Highguard is an upcoming PvP free-to-play hero shooter from the team behind hit titles like Apex Legends and Titanfall under the banner of a brand new studio called Wildlight Entertainment, Inc.
The developers describe the game as a raid shooter where players will ride around the arena, fight players from the other team, raid as Wardens and try to capture and control areas and eventually the enemy’s base.
I mean, that is all we have on the game, along with some key details like it is coming out on PC (via Steam) on Jan 26, 2026.
The game was revealed on Dec 12, during The Game Awards 2025, through a World Premiere trailer video, which is around 4 minutes long, giving us a look at the gameplay, the maps, the Wardens, etc.
Since then, there has been no social media post, blogs or any such thing from the team at Wildlight Entertainment.
While games getting shadowdropped is not something new. In fact, even Apex Legends was shadow-dropped back in 2019. But behind the scenes, there were people who knew about it. Including games journalists, content creators and a few others.

But when it comes to Highguard, there is nothing! No communication. Just complete silence after a major reveal through a medium that costs a lot.
And while many fellow games journalists, the content creators and others are worried about the game and whether it will even release on Jan 26th, I think Wildlight Entertainment is playing a smart move by staying silent.

Curiosity marketing is not a new thing. Withholding information to use psychological triggers to create a curiosity gap drives a lot of engagement. Something that the game would not have gotten. Simply because it is a hero shooter with a certain art style and character design that not all of us are fond of.
Also, why pay for marketing when you can let the games journalists, creators and the gaming community in general do your work for free.

Highguard search interest peaked on Dec 12 when it was first revealed. And now, since Jan 13th, even though there is no new news, updates from the devs or any such thing, the search is seeing an upward trend.
Now, this is just Google Search data; on social media and YouTube search, the same can be seen, but with a sharper increase.
There are two logical reasons for the complete silence that I can think of: either the game is not ready to launch at all, or the devs are intentionally choosing to stay silent as a marketing tactic.
The latter seems more plausible to me. What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!
