Chapter One of Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly Remake takes place in the Osaka House in the Lost Village.
It is a relatively short chapter that sets up the game’s story while giving you access to the key items.
So with that said, here’s the full walkthrough for Fatal Frame 2 Remake Chapter One – The Lost Village.

Chapter One – The Lost Village walkthrough
Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly Remake’s Chapter One has the following objectives:
- Investigate the house
- Find Flashlight
- Find Myoga Motif Key
- Open the Myoga Motif Door
- Obtain Camera Obscura
- Defeat the Wraith
- Leave the house
- Follow the woman’s shadow
- Defeat the woman
Right after Chapter One starts, enter the Osaka house.
In the Hallway, you will find a News Clipping. Read it. And go through the door in front of you.
After a cutscene, you will find yourself in the main hall.
The Osaka House has two floors. 3 Locked Doors, 2 of which you will open in this Chapter.
For convenience, I have marked where each path leads in the above screenshot.
Get the Flashlight
First of all, head to the room near the stairs and collect the Flashlight.
Note: In the room, you will also find two Notebooks.
Myoga Motif Lock key
After that, head to the Kimono Room and save your game via the Butterfly Lamp.
On the right-hand corner of the room, you will find the Myoga Motif Key.
It is near the Kimonos. Collect it.
Open the Myoga Motif Lock
After that, follow (3) the hallway and take the first left. On the right side, you will find the Myoga Motif Door.
Unlock it using the obtained key.
Collect the Camera Obscura and read the tutorials carefully.
After that, exit the room through the door. As soon as you do that, you will be attacked by the first wraith.
Defeat the wraith.
Help Mayu
Go near Mayu and pick her up.
Leave the house
The next objective is to leave the Osaka house. Head back to the main hallway.
You will find the exit is “held shut by a powerful force.”

Follow the woman’s shadow
Now, (4), look on the first floor, and you will find a woman’s ghost.
Follow her. Collect the Notebook found in front of the door and enter the room.
The woman’s ghost will appear again. But no worries for now.
Collect all the items in the room.
Once you are done, head to the last room and collect the Notebook.
Note: This will trigger the boss fight with the woman ghost.
Defeat the woman’s ghost
Similar to before, use your Camera Obscura to lower the ghost’s HP.
The boss fight is easy. You can also dodge her attacks.
Once you lower the woman’s HP to near zero, she will attack Mayu. Use the Camera Obscura to drain her last HP and save Mayu.
After that, a cutscene plays out. Mayu will be gone, and thus begins Chapter 2 – The Twin Maidens.
