Do you know there’s a side quest in the Borderlands 4 that finishes a more than a decade long easter egg that started in Borderlands The Pre-Sequel?

For players who don’t know, in The Pre-Sequel, there was an early game side quest called Boomshakalaka that you can take from an NPC named Tog in the Outlands Canyon area on Elpis.

In the quest, you meet a rather unique NPC named Dunks Watson whose dream was to perform the ultimate Slam Dunk.

When you progress the quest, Dunks finally jumps to perform the Slam Dunk. However, due to the zero gravity on Elpis, he flies off, into the space. The quest ends. Or, does it?

Fast forward to Borderlands 3, when you are inside Sanctuary III, if you look out of the cockpit, based on RNG, you can find Dunks frozen and floating in the endless space, aside from his basketball. And that is it.

In Borderlands 4, Dunks finally makes his ultimate slam dunk, which took him more than a decade to complete.

But how to land Dunks on Kairos?

By completing the side quest, “And Welcome to the Jam.”

And Welcome to the Jam side quest

You can find “And Welcome to the Jam” side quest in the Tonnage Peel sub-region of the Carcadia Burn region at the above marked location.

The closest safe house is The Lowrise. Teleport there and make your way to the quest location.

Once you arrive there, use the grappling points to scale the settlement.

Make your way to the top.

Once you arrive there, you will find a dead NPC with a recorder. Interact with it to take and track the quest.

The side quest tasks you to find:

  • Tracking Board
  • Signal Loop

The items location is marked on the map. So no issues there.

You can find the Signal Loop at the marked area in the above screenshot.

You can find the Tracking Board on the tower seen in the above screenshot.

Once you have the two items, head back to the roof where you started the quest and place the items into the antena.

Hit the switch and look in the sky.

You will see Dunks falling down completing his sentence ‘BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!’

He finally lands his slam dunk in the hoop behind the antena, completing his lifelong dream.

And that is it. This ends the Boomshakalaka easter egg in Borderlands 4.
