If you are unable to decide on your starting zone and biome in Hytale or don’t know much about it, I’m here to help you out.
Just like any other sandbox game with procedural world generation, Hytale’s open world is divided into zones, regions, biomes and such other categories.
While most games follow a typical biome structure where you have a massive open world with different biomes, in Hytale, we have zones that include regions.
These regions are a bundle of unique biomes that decide the terrain, enemies, wildlife, flora and such other things.
Each zone in the game has two or more regions with multiple biomes. And in the wake of that, deciding which zone to choose for establishing your first base of operations is somewhat difficult and overwhelming for new players.
Seeing that, I decided to share my opinion on the best starter zone in Hytale.
All zones, regions and biomes in Hytale

Hytale currently features four zones. These are:
- Emerald Wilds
- Howling Sands
- Wisperfrost Frontiers
- Devastated Lands
The Emerald Wilds, Howling Sands and Wisperfrost Frontiers zones feature three regions with multiple biomes.

On the other hand, Devastated Lands only offers two regions with multiple biomes.

Best starting zone in Hytale

The best starting zone in Hytale is Emerald Wilds. The reason is easy access to livestock and crafting materials that you need for your survival in the early hours.
It also offers a beginner-friendly terrain, good for setting up your base, farming, raising livestock and such other things.
Moreover, the zone also features one of the main factions, the Kweebec, passive mobs that you will come across while exploring the Forest to Marshlands, biomes.
The regions in Hytale offer tiered difficulty. And that is why, if you start in the wrong zone, instead of progressing, the main focus and time will be wasted on just pure survival.
That sums up everything you need to know about the Hytale’s zones, regions and biomes. If you are looking for the best Hytale seeds, check out the linked guide. Meanwhile, if you are looking to play the game on a handheld, here’s the answer to whether you can play Hytale on Steam Deck?
