On Tuesday, Feb 24, Pearl Abyss took it to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal the cast for their upcoming action-adventure game and one of the most hyped releases of this year, Crimson Desert.
The main character, Kliff, is played by the Scottish actor best known for portraying Paul Atreides in Frank Herbert’s Dune TV mini-series and Adam Smasher in Cyberpunk 2077.
In an interview with Epic Games, Newman said, “Sometimes the processes of development mean that at the recording end of things, actors can be a little in the dark. We don’t always get the full details in the beginning.”
“For a bit at the start, I didn’t know that Kliff was the lead character in the game.”
“I’ve played this character longer than I’ve played anything!”
“[It’s been] extraordinary to watch it all grow,” he further added.

While Newman’s character plays the central role in Crimson Desert, with Steward Scudamore’s “Oongka” and Rebecca Hanssen’s “Damiane” being the other two playable characters, Rebecca is, to an extent, getting more of that limelight, due to her role as EVE in Stellar Blade.
Rebecca Hanssen is also the VA for Wuthering Waves’ iconic Bard character, Ciaccona, and she is a veteran who also voiced Luna in The First Descendant, Olivia in Dying Light: The Beast, Chen Qianyu in Arknights Endfield, etc.
Crimson Desert arrives on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Mac on March 19.
